Students
aged 7 to 10 are admitted to Reading Laboratory III. This course
aims at strengthening the foundation for reading comprehension,
and focuses on reading strategies and reading speed. Students
learn basic skills for inquiry learning and analytical reading.
Techniques for writing and oral presentation are also taught
in this course.
Advanced
Reading Laboratory is for students of 11 to 15 years old for
promoting language as an art. Students are encouraged to read
with an analytical and critical mind. They are invited to express
views and comments, and to evaluate the literature that they
have read. More time is spent on writing techniques to train
students to become writers. Oral presentation and thought-provoking
debates form an integral part of this course.
Students
of all levels are required to score their own work. At times,
they may find their integrity being put on the test. They learn
not to deceive others and more importantly, themselves, and
become honest and responsible.
